WEAVESOURCE · MATERIAL MATCHING

Find the fabric you can’t find.

Send a photo, swatch reference, supplier link or project brief. We’ll use it to narrow the closest practical fabric options from our catalog and sourcing network.

01

WHEN TO USE IT

Start with a reference when the product name is not enough.

Fabric matching is useful when you are replacing a discontinued material, developing a gown from a reference, trying to reproduce a surface effect, or need a close alternative with different price, quantity or availability.

We do not assume two fabrics are identical from a photo alone. The goal is to identify the closest workable options, then use samples when color, texture, drape or hand feel needs physical confirmation.

WHAT WE COMPARE

The details that change how a fabric behaves.

A good match is more than color. We look at the construction and surface details that matter to the finished piece.

01

Base construction

Woven, knit, mesh, tulle, organza, lace, velvet or another base structure.

02

Pattern & scale

Motif size, spacing, repeat direction and how the pattern reads across a garment or panel.

03

Surface & embellishment

Embroidery, sequins, beads, florals, coating, print, pile or other dimensional treatments.

04

Hand & drape

Softness, crispness, body, stretch and movement where these can be assessed or sampled.

05

Color & transparency

Target shade, undertone, sheerness and how the base changes the visible effect.

06

Width, quantity & use

Practical specifications that can rule an otherwise attractive option in or out.

BETTER REFERENCES, BETTER SEARCHES

What to send us.

01

A clear close-up. Show texture, weave, embroidery, beads or surface finish.

02

A wider view. Show the motif scale or how the fabric appears in the finished garment or installation.

03

End use. Tell us whether it is for bridal, eveningwear, costume, event work, interiors or another application.

04

Practical requirements. Include target color, width, approximate quantity, stretch or transparency needs where relevant.

05

A reference link or swatch details. Supplier links, product names, SKU information or existing sample notes can all help.

HOW IT WORKS

From reference to a material you can evaluate.

  1. 01

    Send your brief

Tell us what you are making and share the best reference you have.

  2. 02

    We narrow the search

We compare likely options by material family, surface, construction and practical requirements.

  3. 03

    Review the closest options

We can share relevant product links or sourcing options and point out meaningful differences.

  4. 04

    Sample before scale-up

For color- or texture-critical work, confirm with a physical sample before a larger order.

START A FABRIC SEARCH

Give us enough context to make the first reply useful.

Use the form for the project details. If you have reference photos or a physical swatch, send them by email or WhatsApp after submitting so we can review them alongside your brief.

A photo can be useful, but it cannot confirm color, texture or hand feel by itself. For critical projects, use a physical sample before larger quantities.

MATERIAL MATCHING NOTES

Before you rely on a match.

Can you identify an exact fabric from a photo?

Sometimes a source or construction is recognizable, but a photo alone usually cannot prove an exact match. We use it to narrow close options and recommend sampling when physical characteristics matter.

Can you help if the fabric is not on the website?

Yes. The online catalog is a starting point. A reference can be used to look for alternatives beyond the currently listed products.

What if I need a specific shade?

Send the clearest color reference you have. Screen color varies, so for color-critical production a physical sample should be checked before a larger order.

Is this only for bridal fabrics?

No. Bridal and eveningwear are important areas for us, but we also work with costume, performance, event, decorative and other creative fabric requirements.
